On February 17, 2009, President
Obama signed a stimulus bill (The
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
of 2009) that made some significant,
positive
changes to existing energy efficiency tax
credits to help natural gas and propane
consumers. These include:

The tax credits that were previously
effective for 2009, have been
extended to 2010 as well.
-
The tax credit has been raised from
10% to 30%.
A consumer tax credit of 30% (up to a
maximum of $1,500) is now available for the installation
of qualifying home heating and water
heating equipment.
THE
FINE PRINT:
A new, energy-efficient furnace must
have an AFUE rating of not less then
95%.
A new, energy-efficient storage-type hot
water heater must have an energy factor
of at least 0.82. All tankless
water heaters qualify with an energy
factor of at least 0.82. (You can
